Richmond Alternative Septic System Maintenance

Alternative Septic System Maintenance

The Septic Doctor is committed to maintaining reliable performance for all septic systems; however, many properties—especially newer homes—are equipped with Alternative Onsite Sewage Systems (AOSS) that require a higher level of care. These advanced treatment units are engineered for sites with challenging soil conditions, limited space, or environmental sensitivity. Because they rely on mechanical components, aerators, pumps, filters, disinfection units, and monitoring equipment, they must be serviced routinely to ensure proper treatment, efficiency, and compliance with Virginia regulations.

Our technicians are trained to inspect, clean, repair, and monitor all major AOSS technologies. We perform tasks such as filter cleaning and replacement, pump and float testing, alarm diagnostics, component calibration, sludge level assessment, and verification of proper treatment processes. Routine maintenance helps prevent premature system failure and expensive repairs.

In addition, all AOSS units in Virginia require annual inspections and reporting to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). The Septic Doctor handles this entire process for you—completing the required inspection, documenting system performance, submitting the annual report to VDH, and keeping your system in full compliance with state regulations.
